Simple Search

The simple search is located on most pages. You can use the menu beside the search field to search within the currently active tNook, all tNooks, or another tNook.

Simple Search Tips

If you want to get all Superman and Batman items enter superman batman in the search bar. This will return all the Superman and Batman items, such as "Superman and Batman: Worlds Finest".

If you want to get all Superman or Batman items enter superman +batman in the search bar. This will return all Superman or Batman items, such as "Superman #137" and "Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #146".

If you want all Batman comics, but not Dark Knight, enter batman -dark –knight. This will return all Batman items that do not have "dark" or "knight" in them.

On the results page, you can select a default search type. This choice will be saved with a cookie, so every time you use the simple search you will see results of that type first.

Advanced Search

A link to a more advanced search interface is located beside the simple search. This interface gives you more control over how your search criteria will be handled by the search engine.

You can choose to search for "All of these words", "Any of these words" or "Exact phrase" with the menu located beside the search box:

  • "All of these words" will use all of the words from your search to match.
  • "Any of these words" will match any one of the words in your search.
  • "Exact phrase" will only return results that match the exact phrase you search for.

For example, if you type batman superman into the search, "All of these words" will only return results with both keywords "batman" and "superman". "Any of these words" will return items with "batman", "superman" or both. "Exact phrase" will return results with the phrase "batman superman", but not "superman batman".

Exclude

Keywords entered in the exclude words field will filter results with those keywords, and not return them with the results. This has the same effect as typing -keyword in the search box.

Search In

Use this menu to choose to search within a certain tNook, or all tNooks.

Types

You can select a type to restrict the results that you get back.

Each type of result is displayed on the results page under a tab, so you do not have to return to the search page to view other types returned with the same search criteria.

Results

Use this menu to set the number of results to be returned per page. You can also update this number using the menus on the results page.

Advanced Search Tips

You can use the same syntax as mentioned above under Simple Search for Advanced Search.

Improving Search Results

Make sure that you are spelling your keywords correctly. Perhaps there is an alternate spelling for the term you are looking for.
